Grace E. Hazeltine, Ph.D.
I tend to work best with people who prefer someone straight-forward, warm, and participatory. If you don’t know what kind of therapeutic fit would be best for you, that’s okay, too. A phone conversation is usually a good place to find out if we could have success working together.

I’m a licensed psychologist in California who practices with adults, couples, adolescents, and children from a psychoanalytic perspective. In my practice, I find it important to think about the whole of a person, including identity characteristics such as personal and familial aspects of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, ability, age, religion, immigration, and adoption, among other issues. I enjoy working with people with diverse identities and concerns in life. If you’d like to learn more about me as a potential therapist for you or a loved one, I recommend giving me a call or reading what I have written on this blog.
In addition to practicing as a psychologist, I enjoy teaching, supervising, mentoring students in the dissertation process, and non-profit work. I am the current President and Chair of continuing education for Wright Institute Los Angeles’s Alumni Board, where I trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and act as a clinical supervisor to therapists in training. For many years I helped organized the Los Angeles County Psychological Association’s psychotherapist-as-artist virtual gallery, Mirrors of the Mind.
I have a background in experimental psychology and neuroscience from Grinnell College. Before becoming a psychologist I was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs and a business management consultant. I am passionate about the theory of psychoanalysis, exploring and protecting the natural world, improvisation, expressive arts, and experiential learning.
